What is the Fair Usage Policy (FUP)?

On an unlimited plan, your connection slows down once your daily high-speed data is used up — it doesn't stop.

A Fair Usage Policy (FUP) helps keep the network fair for everyone. Your unlimited plan includes a set amount of high-speed data each day. Once you've used it, you stay connected at a slower speed until your daily data resets — as long as the plan itself is still valid.

Which plans have a FUP?

Unlimited daily plans

Has FUP

You get a set amount of high-speed data each day — for example 1GB, 2GB or 3GB. Your plan's exact daily amount is on the product page.

After you use it up, you stay online at your plan's FUP speed until the daily allowance refreshes — for example 384 Kbps, 512 Kbps or 1 Mbps — enough for messaging and maps, but video and large downloads will be slow. This slower speed applies only while the plan itself is still valid. Your plan's exact speed is listed under Technical Specs → FUP Policy on the product page.

Your high-speed data refreshes automatically on a 24-hour cycle.

Fixed total plans

No FUP

A plan with a fixed total (for example 10GB for 30 days) has no FUP speed limit — there is no daily high-speed allowance to run out of. When the total runs out, your data stops. To add more, open Check Usage in your order email, sign in to the usage monitor with the account you ordered with, and use Top Up Data if your plan supports it.
